Encouragement News Issue 4....

Be Encouraged....

Hey guys, welcome back. A friend of mine suggested that I write on the topic of space. So, I thought that I would have a go...Hopefully God will be in it as that is my prayer.
Picture
Since it is difficult to find definite non-copyright images on the internet these days, I decided to make my own :)
Now, what do you think of my picture? Can you count the stars? Probably. The shooting stars are easier...Now go outside (if it is night). Are there any stars out? Can you count them, even in a patch of the same size as my picture? Probably not. Now try to count all of them. Pretty hard, eh? Not even scientists can count all the stars, they have to give estimates. The Bible says that the stars of the sky are countless and that the sand on the seashore is measureless, in Jeremiah, Chapter 33:22. If you disagree then I challenge you to count them.
Some people suggest that the universe is ever expanding, I do not know if this is the case or not. But I think that we can agree that space is big enough. But we have to know who we are in it, otherwise we may feel insignificant and small. This should not be so - we should not feel small because God says that He chooses the weak to shame the strong and the foolish to shame the wise (1 Corinthians 1:27). He also 'leads us in triumphal procession in Christ and through us spreads everywhere the fragrance of the knowledge of Him', according to 2 Corinthians, Chapter 2:14. This shows that we are used in His purposes and thus, should not think of ourselves as small or unimportant (neither should we become pompous though or arrogant, but having confidence in God and knowing that He loves to use us for His work, we should go on in life, according to His rich purpose for us).
Furthermore, look at the great deeds that He achieves by His finger: 'When the LORD finished speaking to Moses on Mount Sinai, He gave him the two tablets of the Testimony, the tablets of stone inscribed by the finger of God.' (Exodus 31:18). Even the magicians in Exodus 8:19 acknowledged that the plagues, sent against Egypt were by the finger of God. So far, it seems that God does amazing things by only using His finger and the Bible says that God uses His whole arm to achieve salvation for us - therefore, we must be important and He must have a purpose for us, worthy of such exertion (Isaiah 52:10).
He protects us too, not only assigning us important tasks in His wonderful purpose for us: 'The LORD said to Satan, ''Very well, then, he is in your hands; but you must spare his life.''' (Job 2:6). It seems clear to me that God's focus is on us, and not on the stars - I expect that He created them mostly for our enjoyment, gazing at us and finding us more beautiful ('Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as braided hair and the wearing of gold jewellery and fine clothes. Instead, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God's sight' - 1 Peter 3:3-3:4). And so, brothers and sisters in Christ: Be Encouraged!
     God bless :) Jason.
