A New Beginning, Part three...

Picture
Vale woke suddenly and saw his attacker. He saw the head of a large snake, looming above him and gazing at him greedily. It had a purple and green pattern on its skin and it hissed menacingly.
Vale decided to keep his eyes only slightly open, so as to attack with an element of surprise. He felt the dagger in his trouser pocket. Now to grab it without being noticed...
 CRACK
Vale had gone unconscious, hitting his head on a rock. His hand flopped the remainder of the distance to the floor.
                                                                                    *

Vale's head swam as he woke. Where am I? he thought, What happened? As he sat up he found himself in a cage, much like he had seen humans put birds in. But this wasn't the time for such thoughts. I must get out, and quietly he thought.

He gazed around, looking for a key or some shard of metal or stone to open the lock. None could be found. But then the answer came to him. It was so obvious! He clasped a claw to his forehead, wincing from the pain of his carelessness (his claw had made a slight cut in his forehead). As a result of such easy accidents, Sneselslips are taught as youngsters not to make it a habit. Of course, the forget, being youngsters. He edged closer to the bars of the cage to slip through.
He couldn't believe that nobody was around to guard him - the stupidity of his captors. He squeezed through the gaps in the cage and snuck behind a tree. He thought he was stealthy - and he probably was - but then...
 'Aaarggghhh!'
An Antolopro had bitten him. He stared down at the black and red round head and winged, black body in shock. Then in fury, he slashed at the creature - cutting it in two.
 'That'll teach it.' he said.
'HE'S OOVERRRR THERRRRE!!!' Came a voice that croaked.
Vale clawed his way up the tree, ready for a fight. They won't catch me this time, he thought.
 Continued next time...(God willing)...
